Position Summary
Are you a storyteller with a heart for justice? CAIR-NY is looking for a Communications Coordinator to be the creative pulse of our chapter. In this role, you aren’t just posting on social media: you are helping us build a narrative of courage and resilience. You will work closely with our development, legal and outreach teams to turn our impactful work into inspiring stories, manage a fun and talented team of interns, and help execute our most exciting annual events.
Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership & Project Management:
Reports: Act as “Editor-in-Chief” for publications, managing data collection from various departments and overseeing design through final publication.
Event Execution: Lead the end-to-end communications strategy for major events (Gala, Ramadan, Muslim Advocacy Day).
Digital Governance: Maintain and update the CAIR-NY website and Social Media Policy SOPs to ensure brand consistency and community safety.
Team Management: Recruit, onboard, and fully manage an intern team (up to 8 individuals), delegating tasks across design, social media, and research.
Mission Alignment: Ensure all public-facing content adheres to CAIR’s core values and legal standards, serving as a final “quality control” check before ED review.
Media Relations & Rapid Response
PR & Journalism: Draft high-impact press releases and coordinate news conferences on tight deadlines, specifically focusing on campus repression, civil rights litigation, and hate crime response.
Media Outreach: Proactively pitch stories to local, national and international outlets and manage a database of journalists and influencers for strategic coverage.
National Alignment: Coordinate with CAIR-National on rapid-response PRs while maintaining NYC-specific chapter autonomy and branding.
Multimedia & Digital Growth
Content Creation: Produce high-resolution multimedia content, including community alert graphics, and donor-centric email sequences.
Analytics & Reporting: Monitor digital KPIs, providing monthly reports on social media growth, engagement trends, and website traffic to the board.
Skills & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, Political Science, International Relations, Public Relations, Journalism, or related fields. Masters Preferred.
Experience: 2–4 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a non-profit or legal advocacy environment.
Managerial Prowess: Proven ability to manage teams and complex project timelines.
Technical Toolbelt: * Platforms: Squarespace, EveryAction (or similar CRM), Microsoft Teams, and Slack.
Design: Expert-level Canva, Capcut, and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator).
Social: Mastery of Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X (Twitter), and LinkedIn analytics.
Writing: Exceptional ability to copy-edit and write for different audiences: from legal “calls to action” to empathetic fundraising appeals.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $60,000 – $65,000 (dependent on experience).

We serve Muslim New Yorkers through legal representation, policy advocacy, education, media relations, civic engagement, and grassroots mobilization
CAIR-NY has sustained steady progress and established deep roots within the Muslim community by expanding our services, strategic partnerships, and the reach of our programs. The Supervising Attorney will further CAIR-NY’s objectives by overseeing our civil rights matters, assisting in structuring immigration legal services, and helping shape policy advocacy efforts.

Position: Supervising Attorney (Full-time)
Location: New York City, New York (hybrid in-person/remote)
Salary: $90,000-105,000, based on years of experience

Position Summary
CAIR-NY is seeking a Supervising Attorney with a demonstrated commitment to public interest law, advocacy, and serving diverse communities. This position aims to increase access to, and provide culturally competent legal and immigration services for, members of the New York State Muslim community. The Supervising Attorney’s primary role will be to oversee CAIR-NY’s civil rights practice, which includes but is not limited to advocacy for victims of hate crimes and abusive law enforcement interactions, those discriminated against in employment, school, airports, and public accommodations, First Amendment related litigation and advocacy, and some immigration matters. The Supervising Attorney will also co-counsel litigation with other firms, as well as oversee and mentor a small legal team, including attorneys, paralegals, and interns.
The candidate should have a strong passion for empowering underserved communities and an interest in representing discriminated against individuals in front of administrative bodies and courts. The candidate will be expected to use creative legal and grassroots advocacy solutions to address systemic issues facing the American Muslim community.
The Supervising Attorney will directly report to the Executive Director. The position is located in our New York City office. Staff is currently on a hybrid in-person and remote work schedule.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate legal intake process, case selection, and all aspects of case management
Supervise the entire legal team to ensure that cases progress in a timely manner and that staff are supported to sustainably work
Participate in all aspects of litigation including, but not limited to, client interviews, factual investigation, legal research, discovery, preparation of legal documents, negotiations, and trials in both state and federal courts; appear at administrative hearings
Conduct community education and outreach including Know-Your-Rights presentations and clinics on issues of immigration, discrimination, and law enforcement interactions at mosques, community centers, and college campuses
Build or maintain relationships with clients, affected communities, elected officials, law firms, law schools and legal clinics, allied legal groups, and other key stakeholders to advance the organization’s legal and policy work.
Assist in the production of internal and external reports
Coordinate with other departments, including Communications, Outreach, and Fund Development
Required Qualifications
Licensed to practice law in New York State and member in good standing
5 or more years of experience in civil rights advocacy and/or litigation
Demonstrated commitment to the goals and priorities of CAIR-NY
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a public-interest setting
Ability to effectively supervise attorneys and advance the priorities of the legal team, as well as have both vision and practical tools to contribute to the growth of the legal team
Excellent research, oral, and written communication to interface with community leaders, government officials, and staff in a professional and effective manner, including at mosques, community centers, legislative meetings, and other public-facing settings
Some evenings, weekends and off-hour work will be required. Some travel will be required.
Compensation
The salary range is between $95,000-105,000, depending upon experience
CAIR-NY is invested in the professional development of its staff. Attorney will have access to mentors through the CAIR Legal Network and annual legal trainings.
The organization will reimburse attorney bar fees, provide malpractice insurance, and access to CLE courses
