CAIR-NY Condemns Rep. Lawler and EPA Administrator Zeldin for Appearing with Sid Rosenberg After Anti-Muslim ‘Cockroach’ Remark Targeting Mayor Mamdani
(NEW YORK, NY, 06/010/2026) - The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY), a chapter of the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned Congressman Mike Lawler and EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin for appearing alongside the radio host Sid Rosenberg at the annual Lincoln Ball Dinner in Rockland County after Rosenberg previously attempted to dehumanize the Mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, by calling him a “Radical Islam cockroach” on social media.
Rosenberg posted a photo from the event showing himself with Congressman Lawler, EPA Administrator Zeldin, and others, stating he had a “huge night” in Rockland County and praised those pictured.
Rosenberg’s attack on Mayor Mamdani was not an isolated incident. CAIR-NY has previously called on 77 WBAC to drop Rosenberg over his history of racism, including comments about 9/11 and past remarks about Black women athletes. Before his more recent incident calling Mayor Mamdani a ‘cockroach,’ he had compared Black women to animals.

In a statement, CAIR-NY Executive Director Afaf Nasher, Esq., said:
“Congressman Lawler and Administrator Zeldin should be ashamed to appear with and celebrate Sid Rosenberg. Rosenberg is a man who has clearly and openly demonstrated his racism. A few months ago, he called Mayor Mamdani a ‘cockroach.’ In the past, he called black women athletes ‘animals.’ Public officials have a responsibility to promote respect for all New Yorkers, not socialize with notoriously racist Islamophobes who spread bigotry and division.”
