CAIR-NY Welcomes $20K FBI Reward for Info on Acid Attack in Nassau County

(NEW YORK, N.Y. – 10/19/2021)  The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed the FBI’s announcement of a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to an arrest for the acid attack targeting Nafiah Ikram on March 17, 2021. CAIR-NY also welcomed the FBI’s involvement in the investigation.

CAIR-NY Legal Director Ahmed Mohamed said: “We welcome the FBI’s involvement in the investigation of this horrific acid attack targeting Nafiah Ikram. We encourage anyone with information about this crime to contact the FBI. The Ikram family needs the public’s help to bring the perpetrator to justice.” 

In a statement, the Ikram Family said: 

“Nafiah has been through so much already. She has undergone several surgeries with many more scheduled as she battles every day for some semblance of normality. She is a fighter. We are grateful for the FBI’s involvement, as well as the Nassau County’s Detective Squad’s continued commitment to investigating this matter. We appreciate the community’s support and ask everyone to continue praying for Nafiah and our family. Help us bring this suspect to justice by contacting the FBI if you have any information about this crime.”
