CAIR-NY to Join Muslim Leadership’s Commitment to Opposing Anti-Black Racism

(NEW YORK, N.Y. 6/8/2020) – On Tuesday, June 9, the New York Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY) will join a panel of distinguished Muslim leadership in New York City to call for sweeping criminal justice reform and to propose structural changes in policies that directly affect lower socio-economic and African-American communities.

CAIR-NY and the Islamic Leadership Council of New York will hold a press conference outlining the coalitions and commitments central to recommitting ourselves towards anti-Racist work and Black liberation. 

CAIR-NY is an organization dedicated to harnessing our values in service to society and recognizes that justice for all people in America cannot come to fruition without an unwavering and unapologetic commitment to achieving justice for Black Americans. 

To that end, CAIR-NY condemns all forms of anti-Black violence, and seeks to build robust coalitions that combat racist discrimination in sectors ranging from housing, unemployment, healthcare, and education.
