CAIR-NY, NYC Community Leaders to Hold an Interfaith Vigil for Peace in Response to Manhattan Attack

(NEW YORK, NY, 11/1/17) – Later today, the New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY) will join diverse community and faith leaders at a vigil for peace in response to the attack that killed eight and injured at least eleven bikers and pedestrians in lower Manhattan yesterday.  This event will take place at Foley Square tonight at 6 p.m.

Faith and community leaders were devastated by this latest act of mass violence in downtown Manhattan. Representatives of diverse religious traditions and community leaders will offer reflections and prayers for the victims, their families, and our nation tonight. The vigil will unite a large coalition of interfaith partners and community organizers and will exemplify the solidarity of New Yorkers in rejecting senseless violence and hatred.  

The Interfaith Center of New York (ICNY) works to overcome prejudice, violence, and misunderstanding by activating the power of the city’s grassroots religious and civic leaders and their communities. 

The Muslim Community Network identifies and cultivates the leadership skills of all Americans to fully participate in the social landscape.

Congregation Beit Simchat Torah (CBST) is a vibrant spiritual community and a progressive voice within Judaism.
