CAIR-NY Welcomes Guilty Plea of Neo-Nazi who Tried to Recruit People to Hand Out Poisoned Candy to Jewish Children

(NEW YORK CITY, NY, 11/18/2025)  - The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY) today welcomed a guilty plea by a man who tried to recruit others to hand out poisoned candy to Jewish children.

The leader of an Eastern European neo-Nazi group who tried to recruit an undercover federal agent to dress as Santa Claus and hand out poisoned candy to Jewish children and racial minorities pleaded guilty to soliciting violent felony hate crimes and distributing information about making bombs and ricin.

In a statement, CAIR-NY Executive Director Afaf Nasher said:

“Attempting to poison children is a level of evil that anyone with a basic sense of morality cannot begin to fathom. We welcome the guilty plea in this disturbing case and call on law enforcement authorities to crack down on such violent individuals and networks. We stand in solidarity with our Jewish neighbors and all others targeted by these demonic groups.”

She noted that CAIR-NY previously welcomed a federal grand jury’s four-count indictment charging the perpetrator with soliciting hate crimes and acts of mass violence in New York City.
