The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY) is seeking a qualified Development Associate. CAIR-NY is one of the fastest growing chapters of CAIR, the largest Muslim advocacy and civil rights organization in the United States. We are seeking individuals interested in working in a fast-paced environment and on the front lines of the fight for the civil rights of Muslims. The Development Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Executive Director in all aspects related to meeting and exceeding the organization’s financial goals.


  • Maintain the daily functioning of the office;
  • Provide HR assistance to accounting;
  • Manage staff schedules;
  • Order supplies;
  • Manage events;
  • Sort mail;
  • Maintain databases;
  • Assist with operational and administrative needs, answer phones; 
  • Manage contracts.


The ideal candidate should have the following:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills required;
  • 1-3 years administrative experience;
  • The ability to work quickly and well under pressure, along with building positive community relationships is desired;
  • Diplomatic and professional communication skills required;
  • A college degree in management or related field is preferred;
  • Passion for the mission of the Council on American-Islamic Relations;
  • Excellent writing and editing skills;
  • Knowledge of office management;
  • Ability to manage people;
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook with internet research skills also required; and
  • Knowledge of PowerPoint and the ability to type 40 w.p.m. preferred.
