  • Location:Bronx Islamic Society 1726 East 172nd Street Bronx, NY 10472
  • Price:Free

Since the Associated Press broke the story about the “Demographics Unit” and the NYPD’s extreme efforts to spy on and intimidate the New York Muslim community through predatory policing tactics, CAIR-NY has redoubled its efforts to educate the community about both their rights when engaging with law enforcement as well as the realities which they face as targets of a specific policy of repression and discrimination. CAIR-NY’s educational initiative has primarily taken the form of Know Your Rights workshops and community teach-ins, bringing legal expertise to your community free of charge.

The workshops are geared towards educating American Muslims of all backgrounds about their constitutional rights (and how to protect them) when dealing with law enforcement. The workshops focus on different scenarios in which people might have conflict with law enforcement such as during screenings at the airport or when law enforcement comes to visit you at home.
