CAIR-NY: Muslim Leaders to Critique Obama Administration on One Year Anniversary of Cairo Speech

On Friday, June 4, 2010 the one year anniversary of President Barack Obama’s historic speech in Cairo, CAIR-NY invited Muslim leaders and advocates to a round-table discussion at the Interchurch Center in NY to assess and critique the commitments made by the Obama Administration in the past year.

Participants, including civil rights advocates, lawyers, and religious leadership, discussed issues ranging from violent extremism to charitable donations and graded the overall performance of the administration. Following the roundtable discussion, community leaders were available for media interviews.

This event, which was a follow-up to a screening and discussion of his speech in 2009, is part of CAIR-NY’s ongoing campaign, “Because Our Voices Matter” that aims to document NY Muslim perspectives on a wide range of topics through different levels of media engagement.
