The Community Affairs Department seeks to mobilize and empower Muslim New Yorkers by encouraging grassroots activism, civic engagement, and volunteerism. The Department actively informs the community through educational workshops about the importance of political engagement at various levels and organizes public efforts on issues related to Islam and Muslims including cultural sensitivity trainings to law enforcement.
