Action: Vote in Tomorrow’s NYC General Election!
(NEW YORK, NY, 11/02/09) – CAIR-NY is urging Muslim voters to exercise their right to vote tomorrow, Tuesday, November 3, 2009. New Yorkers will head to the polls to elect the city’s next Mayor, Public Advocate, and Comptroller.
ACTION REQUESTED:
1. Be heard. Go to the polls on Tuesday and cast your vote!
2. Make an impact. Take a friend or family member along with you to vote.

· Mayor: Michael Bloomberg, Independent; Bill Thompson, Democrat
· Public Advocate: Bill De Blasio, Democrat, Alex Zablocki, Repubilcan
· Comptroller: Salim Ejaz, Independent, John C. Liu, Democrat, Joe Mendola, Republican
When and Where to Vote
· Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2009.
· Polls are open from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

What to Bring on Election Day
· Bring one form of ID with you to the polls, such as a U.S. passport, New York driver’s license or state ID, military ID, student ID, utility bill, bank statement, a government document, etc.
Qualifications for Voting
To register to vote in the City of New York, you must:
· Be a citizen of the United States.
· Be a New York City resident for at least 30 days.
· Be 18 years of age before the next election.
· Not be serving a jail sentence or be on parole for a felony conviction.
· Not be adjudged mentally incompetent by a court.
· Not claim the right to vote elsewhere (outside the City of New York).
Your Rights as a New York Voter are as Follows
· To have questions concerning voting procedures answered and to receive assistance if needed at your polling place.
· To vote without being intimidated, threatened, or coerced.
· To vote if you are eligible to do so even if you do not bring an ID to the polls.
· To vote using a provisional ballot if your registration comes into question.
· Your vote is private- The ballots are processed in such a way that your identity will not be distinguishable from your ballot.
